Double Standards (Questions With Delicate Answers)
One thing (among the million other things) that irks me is applying double standards. When a guy says something apparently misogynistic, he's a pig, when a woman says the same thing, well, she's allowed to... That was just an example.

What I wanted to waste my time babbling about is the "humane euthanasy" for animals. I'm not going to make a "save our furry friends" post, don't worry. It's about humans.

So, let's say an animal is in one of those "rescue" centers, an no one claims it. What happens to it if the assigned period of time passes and no one claimed it? Or, the animal is sick, let's say cancer or some sort of other illness that would mean loads of money for treatment. Or, the animal is a dog that was mistreated or used in dog fights, and it cannot adapt to leaving with a human family (with playful, noisy kids and/or old people), or it could adapt to live with humans, but the new owner must be some sort of professional dog trainer to be able to deal with it? So, what happens to these animals? They are "humanely" euthanatised.

What happens to a human that has cancer, especially in terminal stage? Doesn't everyone rushes up, invests in treatment, etc even if they know that the illness is more likely terminal. Or if the said human has a mental illness or is a serial killer or a paedophile? In some countries for killers and criminals, in general, there's the death penalty (which is a different topic), which personally I don't agree with, but I won't talk about those. My issue is that while it is OK to "humanely euthanatize" an animal, to put it out of it's misery, to stop its suffering, humans suffering have to struggle and endure until their end.

Now, I am not taking a stand, I'm not saying we should start euthanitising people, or save the whales or other stuff like this. I'm just rising a question, to which finding the answer it's a delicate business. But, nevertheless it upsets me when seeing all those animals rated as "unfit" to live with humans sent to the "executions" room.

*On a different topic, Emigrate's "Emigrate" album, launched today is worth a listen. What do you know, you might end up with a new band that you're fan of.
